The Fishers Freedom Festival, Town of Fishers and IU Health Saxony Hospital will host the regional Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge® (FCC) on June 29-30, 2013. The mission of the FCC is to promote and showcase the talents, skills and athleticism of America’s firefighter heroes in an exciting and entertaining sports competition. The FCC travels to approximately 25 locations throughout the country every year simulating many of the essential skills of firefighting. Some of the skills showcased are climbing a five story tower in full gear, dragging and hoisting a fire hose, racing around obstacles and simulating forcible entry. The FCC motivates, identifies and celebrates America’s “best of the best” firefighters. After years of coverage on ESPN and the Versus television network, the FCC is widely followed by the firefighter community, the general public and the news media around the country as they search for “good news” stories to cover in their local communities. At any given regional competition, 75 to 175 competitors will participate in the FCC.
We also welcome the Kids’ Firefighter Combat Challenge ™ targeting kids ages 4-11, the Kids’ Firefighter Combat Challenge ™ is miniaturized version of its adult counterpart. Kids’ Firefighter Combat Challenge ™ is an exciting adventure for any child that ever wanted to put on some fire gear and squirt a real fire hose. Photo-ops abound and taking away a memory is a priceless experience for both kids and their parents. Parents can sign their children up to participate on Saturday, June 29, 2013 beginning at 10:30 AM. Event participation is limited and is first come, first serve.
